It was a hot summer afternoon in Votier Flats 30 June 2017 and perfect for an hour’s walk along one of the trails starting out from Votier Flats. Was here last During Feb ( Post “2017 Feb Walk in Votier Flats Fish Creek Park” ) but we took a different trail this time. A lot of Deer live here and I was lucky to get a shot of one by the creek. Who knew: that we were still in the City as it sure felt like an escape into the countryside as mostly all we could see was trees and lush vegetation.
Votier’s Flats is part of Fish Creek Provincial Park. Located in SW Calgary, this section of the park borders the community of Canyon Meadows to the north and Fish Creek to the south. There are several picnic sites, park benches, hiking trails and bike pathways. Like most places located within the Provincial Park, nature thrives. It’s easy to forget you’re in a large city while exploring Votier’s Flats. Bears and Cougars have been known to wander into the West side of the park.
How to get there:
Basically, it is at the far south end of Elbow Dr.
